Eddie Howe didn't sound too concerned about Alexander Isak's 'slight groin challenge' after the ahead limped out of Newcastle's win at Aston Villa on Tuesday night time.

Two objectives from Fabian Schar and an own aim from Alex Moreno put the Magpies Three-0 forward at Villa Park before a late Ollie Watkins comfort.

It was a incredible outcome for Howe and his aspect, but there was concern over Isak as he was substituted shortly earlier than the half-time break, signalling to the bench that he wanted to go off.

The Magpies boss identified it as a 'slight groin concern' and whereas he couldn't make sure, did not assume it was an enormous drawback.

'We don't really know. It doesn't look too critical, appears like a slight groin concern. Fingers crossed we get him again shortly,' stated Howe.

On Isak coming off just before half-time, Howe stated: 'It was a total shock to me. I didn't see any incident, he simply signalled to me that he had to come off. I was very not sure what had occurred, it was out of the blue.

'I'd wish to say it was my determination nevertheless it was Alex's determination [to come off]. He felt he had to come off.

'We're hopeful it's not a critical damage, it doesn't look too dangerous nevertheless it's very early to say that. We'd like a proper analysis and then assess from there.'

With the switch window closing on 1 February, Howe was not about to dive into the market because of Isak's damage, neither is he keen to let anyone go.

Requested of potential departures, he stated: 'I don't know. I don't assume so at this late stage. I'd be very happy for the window to shut with no ins and outs.'
