Mikel Arteta is reportedly contemplating his future at Arsenal (Reuters)

Arsenal have denied stories claiming that Mikel Arteta is planning to go away the membership on the end of the season.

On Sunday evening, a report from Spanish newspaper Sport claimed that Arteta has already indicated privately that he intends to step down as Arsenal manager at the end of the season.

Arteta's choice would now make him a robust contender to switch Xavi as Barcelona's head coach after the 44-year-old announced in the wake of his side's 5-3 defeat to Villarreal on Saturday night that he will leave Camp Nou at the end of the season.

Nevertheless, Arsenal have shortly denied those reviews, insisting that Arteta is 'dedicated to managing' the membership.
