David Beckham was booed by irate fans in Hong Kong after Lionel Messi failed to seem in a friendly for Inter Miami.

After enjoying Saudi Pro League sides Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr this week, Inter Miami continued their lucrative pre-season tour of Saudi Arabia and the Far East with a recreation towards a Hong Kong XI on Sunday evening.

The Hong Kong Stadium was full of 38,323 supporters who have been all expecting to catch a glimpse of Messi in motion, with some paying in excess of two,000 Hong Kong dollars (£200) for a ticket.

When requested about followers chanting for a refund, the supporter replied: 'I didn't like that at all. I expected it but I didn't like it.

Meanwhile, Inter Miami head coach Tata Martino acknowledged the frustration from the supporters in Hong Kong but claimed the 'danger was too massive' with Messi and Luis Suarez, who also remained on the bench.

'We're thankful to Hong Kong for the previous few days, we have now been treated very properly and felt the openness of the Hong Kong individuals,' Martino stated.

'We also loved in the present day in the stadium, but perceive there's a whole lot of disappointment among fans due to the absence of Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi.

'This has been the decision of the medical workforce, we now have checked their physical state of affairs, and if we despatched them on the pitch, we might have risked their physical nicely being.

'We understand followers are very disenchanted and we ask for their forgiveness. We wish we might have sent them on the pitch for some time to play, however the danger was too massive.'
