The legendary midfielder, who guided the Catalan giants to La Liga success last season, made his shock announcement following Barcelona's 5-Three defeat at house to Villarreal.
Xavi dropped the bombshell in his post-match press convention.
'We now have been speaking about it with [club president Joan] Laporta and as a culé I feel that the membership wants a change of dynamic,' Xavi stated.
'As a culé, excited about the club and the gamers I feel they'll free themselves and might be calmer. Considering as a membership man I feel one of the best thing is to go away on June 30.
'That stated, I will give my greatest in the remaining 4 months, I feel we will have a great season and I hope the dynamic modifications.'
Xavi made his choice public before informing his personal players.
'I haven't informed the gamers, tomorrow I will speak to them, at this time I've seen them very upset, it is likely one of the reasons for this alteration of dynamics, they do not deserve the state of affairs we're going by way of.
'There is a excellent human high quality, excellent workforce and what's occurring typically has no rationalization.
'We now have to be brave simply as we have been once we got here, and not cling to the position and the contract. It is a state of affairs that needs to be decided like this.'
After last season's success, Barcelona have struggled to duplicate that type and are 10 points off the highest of the Spanish prime flight, led by arch-rivals Actual Madrid.
