The once-idyllic mountain village of Chimney Rock, North Carolina, that was immortalized on film including blockbusters The Last of the Mohicans and Dirty Dancing has been all but wiped out after being blasted by the floodwaters brought on by Hurricane Helene. The small village with a population of just 140 people, nestled in the heart of the state, sits beneath the towering cliffs of Chimney Rock State Park and had long attracted filmmakers for its breathtaking landscape.
