A Los Angeles County Sherriff's deputy who was filmed beating up a transgender man who flipped him off agreed to plead guilty after lying to the FBI about the violent encounter and trying to cover it up. Joseph Benza III, 36, agreed to plea guilty in federal court to a felony civil rights offense for attacking Emmett Brock, a then-23-year-old transgender man, in 7-Eleven parking lot in Glendale in February 2023.
