Republicans narrowly passed a government funding bill after Donald Trump persuaded lawmakers who were tempted to oppose Speaker Johnson's plan to support it instead. After a nail-bitting vote, the House approved Speaker Mike Johnson and Donald Trump's short-term funding plan 217 - 213. Every House Democrat except Rep. Jared Golden, D-Maine, voted against it. The lone GOP 'no' was Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky. The bill is a continuing resolution (CR), meaning it will continue government funding levels that were previously passed by Congress in December.
