Russell Brandhas some thoughts on his ex-wifeKaty PerrydatingJustin Trudeau.
The comedianspoke aboutthe new couple while onstage at Turning Point USA's AmericaFest Conference in Phoenix, Ariz. on Thursday, Dec. 18.
"Look, Katy Perry, I was married to her. I love her still, and I'm glad that her mom's in the room to hear me say this, but look. I was okay with Orlando Bloom, but Justin Trudeau? Come on, man! Don't put me in a category with that guy! That globalist stooge," Brand said.
Perry and Brand were married from 2010 until 2012. At the time, the pop starclaimedBrand broke up with her via text message on New Year's Eve 2011.
While serving as prime minister, Trudeau was the head of the Liberal Party of Canada — the Canadian version of what the Democratic party would be in the U.S. Brand, on the other hand, is a conservative and a vocal supporter ofPresidentDonald Trump— evenattending his inaugurationearlier this year.
Brand also made headlines in May when he appeared in court to plead not guilty after being accused of sexual assault by four different women. At the court hearing, it was determined that the trial would likely start in June 2026, with Brand remaining on conditional bail in the meantime.

Brand's comments come nearly two weeks after Perry and the former Canadian prime minister made their relationship Instagram official after taking a trip to Japan together.
Perry and Trudeau were first spotted together on July 28 when they were filmed at Le Violon, a well-known restaurant in Montreal. In footage of the date posted byTMZ, they appeared to share drinks and multiple dishes while chatting across the table.
The romance comes on the heels ofPerry's breakup with actorOrlando Bloom. In early July,reps for the pair confirmed the splitafter weeks of speculation from fans. The couple share daughterDaisy Dove, whom they welcomed in August 2020.
As for Trudeau, who stepped down from office earlier this year, he has stayed mostly out of the spotlight since his 2023 split from wifeSophie Grégoireafter 18 years of marriage. The pair share three children:Xavier, 18,Ella-Grace, 16, andHadrien, 11.
