  • In January 2026, Nick Weiler placed last in his fantasy football league, landing him in an unexpected 30-day TikTok challenge

  • What he initially feared would be embarrassing quickly turned out to be surprisingly "fun," he tells PEOPLE

  • Along the way, the 28-year-old's videos drew thousands of followers and a lot more attention than he expected

Nick Weiler never imagined a fantasy football loss would turn him into an "influencer."

Before the start of the football season in September 2025, the members of his league agreed that whoever finished in last place would have to post content on a public TikTok account for 30 days, while the winner walked away with everyone's cash.

When Weiler landed at the bottom, he braced himself for embarrassment, but instead discovered that his so-called "punishment" was actually more "fun" than he had anticipated.

Since Jan. 4, 2026, Weiler has been dutifully sharing hisdaily routine online– and to his surprise, has racked up over 6,000 followers along the way.

"I have personal accounts on other platforms, but I had never really used TikTok before or put much effort into 'posting,'" the 28-year-old from Washington, D.C. tells PEOPLE exclusively.

Since the rules for "influencing" were deliberately vague byhis fantasy football league, Weiler was left with plenty of room for interpretation.

As a result, he figured vlogging would be the safest bet to welcoming viewers into hiseveryday lifein a way that felt natural – and it quickly became his signature style.

"It has definitely been harder than I expected," he admits. "I'm a little embarrassed by how much time I've spent filming and editing something as simple as a day-in-the-life video. But I've also had a lot more fun than I thought I would."

So far, Weiler has shared 15 videos showcasing his morning coffee ritual, home-cooked meals, workday routine, travel adventures– and, of course, plenty of football watching.

"Posting almost daily is a grind that I can respect more now," he shares. "But 'influencing' as a full-time job still feels goofy."

Still, Weiler is amazed by the response his videos have received and the thousands of followers he's gained in just over two weeks.

"We all thought it would just be our fantasy league and a few friends watching these to make fun of me," he explained. "When I got to 200 followers, everyone in the league freaked out, so to hit 6,000 is crazy."

And while the number may not be significant in the grand scheme of social media, it's far more than anyone in his league ever expected.

When asked if he thinks he'll keep posting after the requirement is over, Weiler says he is "not sure" and, if he does, "definitely not as frequently."

Nevertheless, Weiler admits he has learned a few things from the experience: "Never draft Justin Jefferson in the first round, social media is insane, and make sure to include your email in your bio."
