Patrick Swayze's younger brother Sean Swayze has died. He was 63.
Sean died in Los Angeles on Dec. 15, 2025, according to his death certificate viewed by PEOPLE. He died from an upper gastrointestinal bleed, which was ultimately caused by "severe metabolic acidosis, esophageal varices, and alcoholic liver cirrhosis," according to the document.
He worked as an entertainment Teamster at the time of his death, and is survived by his daughter, Cassie Swayze, and his son, Kyle Swayze.
"I'm heartbroken to share that my cousin Sean Swayze passed away today. This is a picture he took recently for us to promote theDirty Dancingcrawfish theme," Sean's cousin Rachel Leon wrote in anInstagrampost in December 2025. "My daughter, a marketing manager, came up with this idea to honor our late cousin, Patrick Swayze. We sent the T-shirts to Sean, who wore them proudly for us. He was always fun and full of life."
Leon continued, "Just recently, we were talking about him coming down to Texas to spend time with us, and I was really looking forward to it. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his brother Don Swayze and [Sean's] children. We are praying hard for the entire family during this difficult time. Please know that we love you and are always here for you. Sean, I love you so much, and we will miss you dearly."
Sean was the brother of the acclaimed actor Patrick Swayze, known for his roles inThe Outsiders,Dirty Dancing,Ghost, and more. Patrick died from pancreatic cancer at 57 in 2009.

"Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months," his representative told PEOPLE in a statement at the time.
In 2024, Patrick's widow Lisa Niemi Swayze teamed up withleading non profit Pancreatic Cancer Action Networkto help raise awareness of the disease and increase funding for research.
"My connection with PanCAN is because it's in honor of Patrick, because I want to finish the fight that he fought so hard for, fought so hard to win. And just because he is gone, it doesn't mean it's over, and I want to keep it going for him," Lisa told PEOPLE exclusively.
