He then clarified that Weaver didn't say that in front of the actor.

"Mads would leave," Fuller explained. "And then she would say, 'I am very enamored with our leading man,' and fan herself. And then, if she left, Mads would express similar enthusiasm and appreciation of Sigourney, but less ladylike."

Weaver is Hollywood royalty, of course, having starred in blockbuster movies such asGhostbusters,Alien, andAvatarover her 50-year career. She's been nominated for acting Oscars three times, forAliens,Working Girl, andGorillas in the Mist.

Mikkelsen's professional acting credits date back to the '90s. The actor starred in Fuller-created TV seriesHannibal, based on author Thomas Harris' infamous cannibal, as well as movies such asDoctor Strange,Casino Royale,Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, andAnother Round, for which he was nominated for a 2021 BAFTA, the British equivalent of an Academy Award.

Dust Bunnyis the story of a young girl who asks Mikkelsen's character, a hit man, to take care of a monster under her bed. The movie costars Sophie Sloan, Sheila Atim, and David Dastmalchian.

The film was inspired by movies Fuller watched growing up, such asPoltergeist,The Goonies, andGremlins, the director toldUPIearlier this month.

"Those movies always had such a fun alchemy of tones. Fantasy was always part of the recipe," he said. "This movie has deep ties toE.T.and what specific friendships are like, and it has deep ties to movies likeLabyrinththat have fantastical monsters and, once again, young people who are at the center of the story trying to find their own paths, declaring their heroism."

Dust Bunnyis now available for rent and purchase on streaming platforms.
