USMNT striker Ricardo Pepi suffers gruesome arm injury with PSV

U.S. men's national team striker Ricardo Pepi suffered a broken arm while scoring a goal in PSV's 5-1 win over on Saturday.

Pepi landed awkwardly on his left arm after scoring from close range in the first half. The 23-year-old had to be subbed off immediately, with replays and images showing what looked like a broken bone.

After the game, PSV coach Peter Bosz confirmed Pepi had suffered a broken forearm and would undergo surgery.

"The fact that he's undergoing surgery means we'll be without him for a while," Bosz said.

According to PSV, Pepi is set to miss two months and will have surgery on Monday.

Pepi has been on fire for PSV of late, with Saturday marking his fifth consecutive league match with a goal.

But the Texan may now be facing a lengthy spell on the sideline depending on the severity of his injury.

The injury took place in the 23rd minute of the Eredivisie contest in Eindhoven. Pepi got on the end of a low cross from Guus Til, but had to stretch his right leg behind him to finish the chance.

The USMNT forward stumbled back and landed with all his weight on his arm, causing an ugly-looking injury.

Reports from the Netherlandssaid Pepi was taken directly to the hospital.

Pepi's arm injury came a year after he suffered a meniscus issue that cut his 2024-25 season short. The American netted 17 goals in just a half-season before he was forced to sit out until the fall.

This season, Pepi started slowly after regaining full fitness, but has been coming on of late. The striker has 11 goals in 22 games after Saturday's strike against Excelsior.

Pepi's form has led to a reported $35 million bid from Fulham, which PSV sporting director Earnie Stewartsaid his club rejectedbecause it wasn't high enough.

With the USMNT, Pepi's knee injury limited him to just one appearance in 2025. A healthy Pepi would be a near-lock to make the World Cup roster and in a battle with Folarin Balogun to start.
