Adam Sandler says viral Chanel handbag story is '100% made up'

Adam Sandleris shooting down aviral internet storyclaiming that the"Happy Gilmore 2"star had to rescue his daughter from a snobby Chanel store.

Sandler, 59, tells USA TODAY he was baffled by the false story fromTikTok,which alleges that his casually dressed daughter Sadie, 19, was rudely dismissed while shopping for a Chanel handbag – prompting him to rush in and drop $300,000 on luxury bags.

"That was one of the weirdest, dumbest, 100% made up things," Sandler says, speaking from theSanta Barbara International Film Festivalred carpet on Thursday, Feb. 5. "It was very odd."

Adam Sandler received the Maltin Modern Master Award at the 41st Annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival on Feb. 5.

The "Punch Drunk Love" star says one of his friends even texted him to find out the details of his purported credit card-vengeful trip to the Chanel store.

"I said, 'What are you talking about? It's 100% nonsense,'" says Sandler. "I don't know how that (expletive) happens."

While the made-up story gives a dark look at the current state of entertainment journalism, at least some stories are correct. Sandler laughingly confirmed aNew York Postreport that he ordered a midnight meal at In-N-Out Burger.

"That one's true, and the other one's pathetic," says Sandler.

Stars of all ages turned out for the AARP Movies for Grownups Awards on Jan. 10, a celebration of film and TV that speaks to a 50-plus audience, starting with Kathy Bates.

Sandler was honored with the prestigious Maltin Modern Master Award at the film festival following a Nielsen report that "Happy Gilmore 2" was the most-watched live-action movie of2025 with 7.1 billion total minutes streamed.

Bad Bunny, who played Happy Gilmore's loyal caddy in the comedy sequel, has moved on to music history – playing the Super Bowl LX halftime show Sunday, Feb. 8, andwinning album of the year at the Grammy Awardswith Debí Tirar Más Fotos.

"I talked to him the other night and congratulated him on the award," says Sandler. "He's a sweetheart, the most humble, loving family guy, and I couldn't be happier for him. And the Super Bowl halftime is just going to be amazing."

Sandler, a devout Jets fan, might even attend the football game at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara, California, to root Bad Bunny on.

"I might be there, or I might be home," says Sandler. "We'll see. I never know in my life."

Could his appearance at Levi Stadium mean that Sandler is one of thesurprise halftime guests that Bad Bunny is keeping quiet about?

"I haven't heard that one yet," says Sandler. "But if it does happen, I'm calling you."
