Commanders head coach Dan Quinn faces mounting pressure after a 1-3-1 start to the season, as Washington looks to rebound after a perplexing gaffe from quarterback Jayden Daniels in overtime, which resulted in a tie, rather than an opportunity to kick the potential game-winning field goal.
The 49ers enter Monday night as one of three remaining undefeated teams in the league with a 5-0 record, coming off an impressive road win over NFC West rival and defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks. Quarterback Brock Purdy is playing at an MVP level despite injuries to his receiving corps, with 1,196 passing yards, 13 touchdowns and 2 interceptions through his first five games. He's taken just a single sack all year.

After back-to-back three and outs, the Commanders decided to shake it up. After driving 46 yards over six plays, including a 29-yard gain from Jayden Daniels to tight end Chig Okonkwo, Washington falls short on fourth-and-2 at San Francisco's 13-yard line and turns the ball over on downs.
The Commanders and 49ers traded three-and-outs between the end of the first and the beginning of the second quarters, with a combined two total yards on the last two drives.
The Commanders will almost certainly be without WR Terry McLaurin the rest of the way after he was carted off with an apparent left knee injury once an air cast was applied.
Several teammates gathered around McLaurin as he was treated for the injury, taking a knee.

Odighizuwa had no issues getting to Jayden Daniels there on third down for the sack, and Terry McLaurin is down on the sidelines with what looks to be a knee injury.
That was a rough drive for the Commanders. They'll have to punt now.
Brock Purdy kept the drive alive with a huge fourth-down scramble, which set up a very easy 1-yard touchdown run from Christian McCaffrey.
The 49ers are cruising now, up 13-3 late in the first after the missed PAT.
Mike Evans is having himself a night, and we're not even halfway through the opening period. Brock Purdy just connected with Evans for a 54-yard gain there.
Evans is up to 78 yards on just two catches tonight.
Terry McLaurin opened the Commanders' drive with a huge catch of his own.
But the drive stalled out quickly after that, and Stefon Diggs got lit up trying to haul in a catch on third down.
The Commanders settled for a 51-yard field goal instead. They're on the board.
Brock Purdy just found a wide open George Kittle for an 11-yard touchdown to start this game. What a perfect opening drive.
Mike Evans was cleared to play today after dealing with multiple injuries in recent days. This catch should clear up any doubts about his health.
The 49ers have received the opening kick, and "Monday Night Football" is off and running in Santa Clara. Here we go…
The Washington Commanders made several roster moves ahead of Monday night's showdown with the San Francisco 49ers, including placing starting running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt on injured reserve with a groin injury.
That will force Croskey-Merritt to miss the next four games, with a potential return against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 11; the Commanders have a Week 7 bye.
Croskey-Merritt currently leads the team with 67 carries this season the year for 239 rushing yards and two scores, adding another 40 yards through the air. He's coming off his best game of the season, averaging 7.5 yards per carry against the New York Giants last week, when he aggravated the groin issue that he first suffered in training camp.
That leaves the Commanders with backs Rachaad White, Austin Ekeler and Jeremy McNichols to carry the load for the time being with Croskey-Merritt out.
Moneyline odds: 49ers -400, Commanders +315
Maybe we're getting coaxed into something that seems too obvious because Daniels ran nine times for 103 yards last week in his return from injuring his elbow in Dallas, but he also had 69 yards on seven carries in one half on that Sunday afternoon. Without a traditional bell-cow running back, Daniels will need to be a significant part of the run game.
The 49ers did well in their only matchup with a mobile quarterback this season, but Malik Willis doesn't have the same big-play ability as Daniels.
The last time San Francisco defensive coordinator Raheem Morris faced Daniels, it was in the quarterback's rookie season, and Morris had no answers then — it was the only other time the Commanders' quarterback ran for over 100 yards. We'll be content with 40 yards' worth of scrambles on Monday night.
