Heartbreaking mystery as Columbine survivor dies 25 years after school shooting that paralyzed her
A Columbine survivor who was paralyzed from the waist down after being shot twice has died at the age of 43. Anne Marie Hochhalter died of natural causes on Sunday afternoon in her home, former Columbine Principal Frank DeAngelis confirmed. 'She was a pillar of strength for me and so many others. She was an inspiration and exemplified never giving up,' he told The Denver Gazette. Hochhalter was shot twice in the back and chest in 1999 when Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold began shooting inside the Colorado high school cafeteria, killing 12 and injuring more than 20.
