Hotel makes bombshell claims against American couple arrested and hauled to Mexican prison in dispute over Cancun timeshare
A Cancun resort at the center of an international saga after an American couple were arrested and accused of fraud has hit back at suggestions they're being imprisoned without cause. Christy and Paul Akeo were immediately detained in Mexico after stepping off a plane from Michigan and thrown in maximum security prison, where they remain 24 days later. Police allege they defrauded Palace Resorts between 2021 and 2022 by clawing back $116,000 worth of credit card transactions after they purchased a timeshare package which guaranteed them preferential rates.
