A mother who dedicated herself to worker safety after the freak accident death of her son has died in a horrific backyard fire pit flare up. Cynthia Hess, 58, of Deerfield Township, Ohio, lost her life in the tragic backyard fire pit accident on the evening of March 10. A neighbor reported hearing a loud noise, resembling an 'explosion,' and saw thick black smoke rising from Hess's yard. 'It's really black smoke, and it looks like it's spreading,' the neighbor told dispatchers.
