New footage captures the moment thatNick Reinerwas arrested in the hours after his parents, directorRob Reinerand photographer and producer Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead in their home in the Brentwood section of Los Angeles.
TV station NBC4 Los Angeles posted the video and reported that it was taken from an ampm store at the intersection of Exposition Boulevard and Vermont Avenue.
It shows Rob entering the store, wearing jeans, sneakers, and a baseball cap, and walking around calmly, before waiting his turn to pay for what appears to be a drink. He walks out of the store and crosses the street when law enforcement vehicles surround him. He puts his hands up when he is confronted by police.
Reiner, 32, was arrested in connection with his parents' deaths on Sunday. On Tuesday, he was charged with two counts of murder with the special circumstance allegation of multiple murders and a special allegation that he personally used a dangerous and deadly weapon, a knife.
He made his first appearance in court Wednesday, wearing asuicide prevention smockThere, Reiner sat behind glass and spoke only to confirm that he waived his right to a speedy arraignment.
Reiner's lawyers did not enter a plea. The judge ordered that he be held without bail pending an arraignment, which is scheduled for Jan. 7.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's officereleased its official reportson the Reiners' deaths Wednesday. Both were determined to have died from multiple sharp force injuries. Homicide was named as the manner of death.
The couple was last seen on Saturday, but they died Sunday, according to the reports.
Their daughter Romy was the first to discover the body of her father and was later informed that her mother's body was inside as well.
Following the tragedy, the couple's children Romy and Jakereleased a joint statement.
"Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day," the siblings said, in part. "The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience. They weren't just our parents; they were our best friends."
Daughter Tracy Reiner, who theWhen Harry Met Sallydirector adopted during his marriage to the late Penny Marshall, was "in shock" after the incident.
"I came from the greatest family ever," she told NBC News on Sunday. "I don't know what to say."
