Fresh off thefirst perfect gameof her storied career, Texas Tech softball starNiJaree Canadynow knows what the future holds for her after the Red Raiders wrap up the season.
The Athletes Unlimited Softball League held its 2026 draft on Monday night and Canady went second overall to the Texas Volts.

The NFCA national pitcher of the year, Canady was the first of 17 players to earn a "Golden Ticket" into the draft from AUSL commissioner Kim Ng earlier this year. As the Red Raiders enter the postseason, starting Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Conference tournament, Canady has compiled a 21-4 record with a 1.30 ERA, tallying 194 strikeouts to just 39 walks in 135 innings pitched.
The AUSL season begins June 9 with each team scheduled to play 25 games through the regular season. The championship is set for July 25 at Texas A&M.
