Miyu Yamashita of Japan shot a final-round 65, then made a birdie putt on the first playoff hole, to come from eight strokes behind to win the Maybank Championship in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Sunday.

Entering play on Sunday, Hye-Jin Choi of South Korea was in control of the tournament, a three-round leader with a four-shot advantage. Choi was seeking her first tournament win.

But she turned in a round of 73 as Yamashita ran off seven birdies. Hannah Green of Australia shot a four-under 68 to join Yamashita and Choi in the playoff at 18-under 270 for the tournament.

Yamashita's birdie in the playoff on the par-5 No. 18 hole gave her the win -- her second of her rookie season -- which she chalked up to extra practice after her round of 69 on Saturday.

"So my putting was solid and I could make many birdies," the 24-year-old said. "Since (Saturday) my shots were not good, and after the third round, I just practice a lot and then I could make it, so I'm very happy about it."

It was the second time in the three-year history of the Maybank Championship that the tournament was decided by a playoff.

Choi could muster only two birdies on a three-bogey day after setting 36- and 54-hole tournament scoring records in Malaysia after posting cumulative scores of 130 and 197. She and Green were unavailable for comment.

Choi has nine top-10 finishes on the season and was second to Carlota Ciganda at the Meijer LPGA Classic in June.

World No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul of Thailand fired a 68 to end in a five-way tie for fourth at 17-under, one shot off the lead. Joining her were South Koreans A Lim Kim (68) and Sei Young Kim (66), Japan's Akie Iwai (67) and Yan Liu (70) of China.

"To be honest, I'm not really confident with my putter coming in this week," Thitikul said. "Like last week I can't make any putts, so ending up here, like in Top 10 being Top 5 ... I am really happy about how I fought with myself out there."

Liu also was happy with her performance.

"Overall good week for, I think, more confidence coming from my everything. Yeah, and my mental and my game," she said. "I think it's more confidence for next couple weeks."

The Arizona Cardinals dropped to 2-5 following their Week 7 loss against the Green Bay Packers but did so without some of their top contributors on offense.

Cardinals running back Trey Benson was forced to miss his third consecutive game as he recovers from a knee injury he suffered during his first start of the year in Week 4 against the Seattle Seahawks on "Thursday Night Football."

Benson was thrust into the No. 1 running back job for Arizona after James Conner suffered a season-ending ankle injury against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 3. The second-year player underwent surgery to repair his meniscus, per ESPN's Adam Schefter and has yet to return to action.

Benson's absence, along with quarterback Kyler Murray's, has been a significant blow to Arizona.

With the Cardinals' season hanging in the balance coming out of their Week 8 bye, when will Benson return?

Here's the latest on the Cardinals' second-year running back:

When will Trey Benson return?

Benson remains on injured reserve (IR) with the knee injury. He will miss his fourth consecutive game when the Cardinals host the Dallas Cowboys for "Monday Night Football" in Week 9.

As the Cardinals placed Benson on injured reserve (IR), it requires him to miss at least four games. This means he is eligible to return in Week 10, but the team has not provided an timeline since early October, stating the injury will keep him out at least the next 4 to 6 weeks.

Coach Jonathan Gannon told reporters on Nov. 1, "He's doing well. He's getting better."

The running back has not practiced but the team can provide an update following their Week 9 game. He will have had a full five weeks to recover after Week 9, thanks to the team's Week 8 bye.

Benson was the team's leading rusher through the first four games with 29 carries for 160 yards.

The Cardinals' offense has been anemic at times, and the hope is that Benson can provide a boost upon his return to the lineup.

Cardinals RB depth chart

Here's a look at who the Cardinals have at RB with Benson remaining sidelined:

Bam Knight

Emari Demercado

Michael Carter (practice squad)

Jermar Jefferson (practice squad)

James Conner (injured - out for season)

Bam Knight leapfrogged the other running backs into the lead role, rushing 17 times for 64 yards and a touchdown in the Cardinals' last game. Emari Demercado returns this week after missing Week 7 with an ankle injury, but Knight should remain the lead back with Demercado and Carter on hand to spell him.

Arizona had added veteran D'Ernest Johnson to its practice squad but he was released on Oct. 28 and quickly signed by the Patriots heading into Week 9. The veteran Carter was also released on Oct. 28, then re-signed to the practice squad after passing through waivers.

The first responders on *9-1-1* are no strangers to grief and loss, but this week's episode ended with a real-life tribute.

Season 9, episode 4 of the ABC first-responder drama — featuring Athena (Angela Bassett) and Hen (Aisha Hinds) fighting to get back to Earth after their ill-fated trip to space — concluded with a tribute card simply reading "For Dad."

** can confirm the dedication was in honor of Charles Minear Sr., the father of *9-1-1* co-creator, showrunner, and executive producer Tim Minear.

Minear also served as co-creator and a showrunner on spinoff *9-1-1: Lone Star* and is co-creator of the latest expansion of the *9-1-1* universe, *9-1-1: Nashville*.

This will sadly not be the only tribute at the end of a *9-1-1* episode this week. EW recently reported that *9-1-1: Nashville* will acknowledge the Oct. 19 death of rising star Isabelle Tate, who appeared on the premiere of the new series.

A representative for Tate revealed the 23-year-old actress died from a rare form of a neurological disorder, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, which is a group of "inherited conditions that cause nerve damage," mainly to the arms and legs, according to the Mayo Clinic.

"Isabelle 'Izzy' Tate had a rare form of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease," said Kim McCray, founder of Tate's The McCray Agency. She added that Tate "passed away peacefully" and that "the family requests privacy as they deal with this sudden and shocking loss."

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association in Tate's name.

Tate's tribute will air at the end of *9-1-1: Nashville* season 1, episode 4, which concludes tonight at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.

For the first time in 17 years, ESPN's "College GameDay" is headed to Lubbock, Texas.

The three-hour college football pregame show, featuring host Rece Davis, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, Nick Saban and Pat McAfee, will be on-site for the matchup between No. 13 Texas Tech and No. 10 BYU. Both teams should be in the top 10 after the polls are released on Sunday, Nov. 2.

"GameDay" last visited Lubbock on Nov. 1, 2008, when No. 5 Texas Tech knocked off No. 1 Texas 39-33 inside Jones AT&T Stadium. Graham Harrell connected with Michael Crabtree for a 28-yard touchdown with one second remaining.

That day, former "GameDay" analyst Lee Corso donned a Raider Red mask, predicting the upset win that would follow later in the day. The Nov. 8, 2025, visit will be the second-ever visit for ESPN's college football pregame show to Lubbock.

Texas Tech picked up a 43-20 win over Kansas State on Nov. 1, to move to 8-1 on the season (5-1 in Big 12 play). Quarterback Behren Morton had 249 yards passing and two touchdowns in the victory.

Meanwhile, BYU is coming off a bye week. The Cougars are 8-0 and 5-0 in Big 12 play during the 2025 season, which includes a 41-27 win over Iowa State the last time they took the field on Oct. 25.

The winner from the Week 11 matchup will be in the driver's seat to win the Big 12 regular season championship and potentially earn a berth in the 12-team College Football Playoff.

It seems like no store is spared from the impacts of President Donald Trump's tariffs on imports. After making a statement in May that their prices would stay the same no matter what tariffs were imposed, Home Depot is changing its tune. The hardware store chain's chief financial officer Richard McPhail announced that some items will be seeing price hikes after all, according to Realtor.com.

This is bad news for customers and businesses that rely on Home Depot. Though Home Depot has historically had lower prices than competitors, consumer experts say with their price increases, that's not the case. Here are the stores experts say will now generally beat Home Depot's prices.

Ace Hardware

If you live near an Ace Hardware, you're in luck, as you're probably going to find prices that are easier on your wallet than Home Depot's.

Danny Niemela is a professional home remodeler and contractor, as well as the vice president and CFO at ArDan Construction. Niemela said that, a lot of the time, Ace will offer what you need for cheaper than Home Depot.

"For example, you can probably go to an Ace Hardware store in Arizona and buy a 5-pound box of contractor-grade screws for $7," Nimela shared. "The same box can cost $10 at Home Depot. That is a 30% swing on something contractors buy in significant volume."

Ben Kuhl is the CEO of Shelf Expression, and said even if the prices aren't lower at Ace, it's a better overall experience than Home Depot.

"The prices aren't always lower than Home Depot, but the customer service beats it hands down," according to Kuhl. "At Home Depot, it can be tough to find someone who can actually help you locate a product or explain details about it, and even when you do, they may not know the specifics."

Locally-Owned Stores

Buying hardware from a local spot helps support a business owned by someone in your community and get a better deal than Home Depot.

"Smaller stores may not promote across the board deep discounts on everything, but they can undersell in niche products where their overhead is lower," Niemela said.

Ferguson

Niemela said if you need plumbing supplies, don't go to Home Depot. He's almost always found plumbing fixtures cheaper at Ferguson.

"Ferguson has the same faucets, valves and shower systems for $50 to $100 less per unit. When multiplied across an entire-house order (ten faucets, four shower sets, etc.) that adds up to a $1,500 difference. Frankly, Home Depot often competes on convenience, not price, in this category," Niemela noted.

Sherwin-Williams

Looking to give a room or home a fresh coat of paint? Niemela said Home Depot is not the place to go.

"A gallon of Behr paint at Home Depot may cost you $45, while Sherwin-Williams frequently has 30% to 40% off promotions that bring top-of-the-line paints to $30 per gallon or less," he stated. "Even beyond the cost, Sherwin-Williams' contractor-grade paints usually have better coverage, so there are fewer coats and less labor time, and the savings multiply."

Way-too-early MLB rankings for 2026 World Series title

Congratulations are in order to the Los Angeles Dodgers for winning the World Series. Now, what are you going to do for an encore?

There were plenty of surprises this past season, so success in 2025 doesn't necessarily translate into being a playoff contender in 2026. But it's as good a place as any to start.

While acknowledging that free agent signings, trades and injuries will certainly shift the relative strengths of the clubs between now and the start of the regular season, we're diving right in with a way-too-early look at which teams should be poised to compete in 2026 and which ones figure to scuffle.

1 / 42025 World Series: All the best moments from Dodgers vs. Blue Jays Game 6Former Toronto Blue Jays star Devon White throws out the ceremonial first pitch before Game 6.Chance for three-peat?

Los Angeles Dodgers: You see stars everywhere you look in L.A. Sure, they flex their financial muscle to attract the brightest and the best, but they're also very good at finding the right complementary pieces. As long as Shohei Ohtani is around, the Dodgers will be tough to beat. (And he's under contract through 2033.)

Top contenders

Toronto Blue Jays: Their relentless offense paved the way to the franchise's first World Series appearance since 1993. Most of those hitters will be back, but will an AL pennant be enough to keep free agent SS Bo Bichette in the fold? The pitching staff sure looks a lot better with postseason hero Trey Yesavage in the rotation.

Seattle Mariners: The M's made it to the ALCS with the help of free agents Josh Naylor and Eugenio Suarez, but the key cogs on the roster – C Cal Raleigh, CF Julio Rodriguez and starters Bryan Woo, Logan Gilbert, George Kirby and Luis Castillo – will all be back. That's a solid foundation, and along with a fantastic bullpen, that elusive World Series appearance definitely appears within reach.

New York Yankees: Two-time (perhaps three-time?) MVP Aaron Judge anchors an offense that will look to fill Cody Bellinger's spot in free agency. Starting rotation should be among MLB's best, especially if Gerrit Cole can return from Tommy John surgery in the second half.

Atlanta Braves: The Braves hardly ever put their optimal squad on the field at the same time all season. OF Ronald Acuña and SP Spencer Strider were sidelined early with injuries, OF Jurickson Profar sat out the middle part with a suspension. SP Spencer Schwellenbach and 3B Austin Riley missed time in the second half. Just a little better luck and the Braves are back with a vengeance.

Milwaukee Brewers: They posted a major league-high 97 wins and have almost everyone coming back. The midseason pickup of 1B Andrew Vaughn looks like a (typical) stroke of genius. A full season from rookie flamethrower Jacob Misiorowski will make the Brew Crew even more dangerous.

Solid foundation

Boston Red Sox: With ace Garrett Crochet and top prospects OF Roman Anthony, IF Marcelo Mayer and 2B Kristian Campbell, the future looks bright in Boston. The biggest unknown is what happens with 3B Alex Bregman, who can opt out of the final year of his contract.

Philadelphia Phillies: Was 2025 the final hurrah for this version of the Phils? DH Kyle Schwarber, C J.T. Realmuto and SP Ranger Suarez are free agents. Bryce Harper, Trea Turner and Aaron Nola are entering their age-33 seasons. Ace Zack Wheeler had shoulder surgery in September and may not be ready for opening day.

Chicago Cubs: The core is strong, the defense is likely the best in the majors, but does the front office go the extra mile to get them over the hump? OF Kyle Tucker is a free agent and losing his bat would be a major blow to the offense. All-Star Matthew Boyd and Rookie of the Year candidate Cade Horton front a rotation that could have lefty Justin Steele back by midseason.

New York Mets: A team this talented (and this expensive) shouldn't be hovering around the .500 mark. Juan Soto is still only 27, but the big question this offseason is what happens with slugging 1B Pete Alonso. If they don't re-sign him, how do they replace his bat in the offense? Rookie right-hander Nolan McLean could be their 2026 ace.

Detroit Tigers: They cashed in some chips to bolster the postseason roster, but there are several impact prospects on the verge of the majors who could help keep the Tigers competitive for years to come. Plus, any team with Tarik Skubal at the top of the rotation must be taken seriously.

San Diego Padres: The Padres have an excellent nucleus in OFs Fernando Tatis Jr. and Jackson Merrill and 3B Manny Machado, but their depth is a bit suspect after several years of making short-term upgrades for the stretch run. The most intriguing offseason decision for the front office is whether fireballing trade deadline acquisition Mason Miller will be a starter or a reliever.

Baltimore Orioles: A new manager and (hopefully) better health should make for a bounce-back season in Charm City. Even better if ownership decides to loosen the purse strings for an impact free agent or two. Trevor Rogers and Kyle Bradish front a pitching staff that should be the focal point of offseason upgrades.

Cleveland Guardians: Jose Ramirez is a rock of consistency in all facets of the game. Gavin Williams and Tanner Bibee are part of a pitching pipeline that seemingly never ends. We saw a glimpse of the future in this year's playoffs when young OFs George Valera and Chase DeLauter got their feet wet.

We have questions

Cincinnati Reds: A playoff team for only the second time in a dozen years, the Reds are built around ace Hunter Greene and SS Elly De La Cruz. Are they trending upward? The starting rotation could be special with youngsters Andrew Abbott and Chase Burns, but they'll need more run support from what was a below-average offense in 2025.

Houston Astros: We saw just how important a full season from OF/DH Yordan Alvarez is to the Astros' success when they failed to make the playoffs for the first time since 2016. Father Time is an obstacle for over-30 vets Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa, Christian Walker and Josh Hader. While Hunter Brown is a legit ace, losing Framber Valdez to free agency will create a huge hole in the starting rotation.

Texas Rangers: Only a handful of players remain from the World Series championship team from two years ago. And they'll have a new manager with Skip Schumaker taking over for Bruce Bochy. Led by veterans Corey Seager, Marcus Semien, Adolis Garcia and Jacob deGrom, the Rangers are one of the oldest teams in the majors. Fun fact: Texas had MLB's lowest ERA last season (3.47).

Arizona Diamondbacks: Led by OF Corbin Carroll, 2B Ketel Marte and SS Geraldo Perdomo, the D'backs have an offense that can keep them competitive. The pitching staff, however, is filled with question marks. Corbin Burnes was supposed to be the anchor, but he's recovering from Tommy John surgery and may not pitch again until late 2026.

Miami Marlins: The Marlins improved by 17 wins over their 2023 record – and there's a lot to like on this roster, especially with the emergence of OFs Kyle Stowers and Jakob Marsee. The starting pitching could be special if everyone – specifically Eury Perez, Edward Cabrera and Ryan Weathers – stays healthy.

Kansas City Royals: The top of the order is reason for excitement with MVP candidate Bobby Witt Jr. and lefty power bats Vinnie Pasquantino and Jac Caglianone. Depth is a major concern, as is ace Cole Ragans' ability to bounce back from a torn rotator cuff that limited him to just 13 starts in 2025.

Tampa Bay Rays: The Rays took a step backward this season, but there's optimism surrounding a budding superstar in 3B Junior Caminero (45 HR, 110 RBI). He may not be able to replicate those power numbers – and the offense could struggle overall – when the team moves back to Tropicana Field, but an above-average pitching staff will welcome the change.

San Francisco Giants: GM Buster Posey made a bold move in plucking Tony Vitello from the college ranks to be his new manager. The bold move at midseason to acquire Rafael Devers didn't quite work out, but middle-of-the-order sluggers don't grow on trees. The Giants may have the widest range of outcomes of any major league team in 2026.

Needs improvement

Athletics: The first season in their temporary Sacramento home provided plenty of surprises – among them a seven-win jump from 2024. Emergence of rookies Nick Kurtz and Jacob Wilson makes the offense just good enough to be dangerous. But the pitching ...

St. Louis Cardinals: The Chaim Bloom era begins in earnest as he takes over baseball operations from John Mozeilak. His first order of business will likely be to find a trade partner and deal veteran 3B Nolan Arenado. Second order of business is to find more power for an offense that had fewer homers than any team except the Pirates.

Minnesota Twins: Jettisoning more than half the major league roster at the trade deadline was certainly a choice. Now the Twins have to find a way to reload, most likely without making a big splash in free agency. CF Byron Buxton is the only true star, but his career is peppered with an assortment of injuries. Same with 3B Royce Lewis. At least the pitching staff should be able to keep games close.

Still a ways off

Los Angeles Angels: Mike Trout remains stuck on a perpetual merry-go-round as he enters his 16th MLB season, still without a postseason win. SS Zach Neto and OF Jo Adell are exciting, yet flawed players. But as usual, Trout just needs more help, and the organization never seems to give him any.

Chicago White Sox: After several years of swapping veterans for prospects, it's time to start seeing some of those moves pay off. C Kyle Teel and 2B Chase Meidroth are part of the first wave, along with first-round SS Colson Montgomery.

Washington Nationals: The youth movement continues with the hiring of 33-year-old Blake Butera to take over as manager. OF James Wood has superstar potential, while SS CJ Abrams has shown flashes but has lacked consistency. Pitching is the biggest issue; only the Rockies had a worse ERA in 2025.

Pittsburgh Pirates: Isn't Paul Skenes amazing? If he only had some support from the offense. And from ownership,

Colorado Rockies: They don't have the talent to compete. They don't have a manager. They're coming off a 119-loss season. Do they even have a plan?

- The *Ace Ventura *franchise includes two theatrical feature films, an animated TV series, and a made-for-TV movie released between 1994 and 2009.

- The series centers on a quirky private investigator who specializes in finding missing animals.

- Jim Carrey originated the role of the eccentric pet detective.

Jim Carrey rose to fame on the sketch comedy series *In Living Color*, but it was the 1994 comedy *Ace Ventura: Pet Detective *that made the manic scene-stealer a household name.

The hit comedy spawned a sequel, an animated TV series, a made-for-TV movie, and even a few video games.

With the *Ace Ventura* films now available to stream on Netflix, there's never been a better time to relive the laughs (or experience the chaos for the first time). Here's how to watch every *Ace Ventura *movie and TV show in order.

Directed by Tom Shadyac, who penned the script with Carrey and Jack Bernstein, *Ace Ventura: Pet Detective *stars Carrey as an animal sleuth in search of Snowflake, the kidnapped mascot of the Miami Dolphins.

When it hit theaters on Feb. 4, 1994, *Ace Ventura: Pet Detective *was a critical dud. Many panned the movie, particularly for its childish humor. ** wrote, "The film's humor is pitched at that part of the brain that's 5 years old and still gets off on li'l fuzzy animals, fart jokes, and braying, rubber-faced clowns."

EW recognized Carrey as the movie's saving grace, but said "the star runs out of things to do, and the movie runs out of helium like the B-level matinee it was meant to be all along."

Despite the poor reception, the movie crushed it at the box office, earning more than $100 million worldwide on a $15 million budget. Not only did it spawn a franchise, but it served as the launching pad for Carrey's meteoric rise to stardom.

Written and directed by Steve Oedekerk, a friend of Carrey's,* Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls* sends Ace to Africa to track down an endangered white bat.

Released roughly a year and a half after the original, the sequel was panned just as viciously by critics, though it managed to surpass its predecessor at the box office, raking in more than $200 million worldwide on a $30 million budget.

Still, it's interesting to consider what the sequel might have looked like if Oscar-winning filmmaker Spike Jonze had helmed it. He was among those vying for the job, and Carrey's rising profile meant the star had a say in choosing the director. But Carrey passed on Jonze, as he had no experience directing feature films at the time.

In 2017, Carrey admitted he regretted the decision during a chat at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival. "I've been wanting to do something with Spike forever," Carrey said (via ScreenCrush). "I was stupid enough to turn him down to direct *Ace [Ventura] 2*, 'cause I had no idea who he was. … And I've been kicking myself ever since."

Roughly a month after *When Nature Calls' *theatrical release, CBS debuted the animated series *Ace Ventura: Pet Detective*. The show ran for two seasons from 1995 to 1997, then moved to Nickelodeon for a third and final season from 1999 to 2000.

Set after the events of the movies, the series expands on the premise but sticks to the formula: Ace takes on cases involving lost or kidnapped animals. Along with his monkey sidekick, Spike, Ace embarks on fantastical missions that include rescuing Santa's reindeer before Christmas and saving a dragon from an evil sorcerer.

Since Carrey did not return to voice Ace, Canadian voice actor Michael Hall stepped in.

The third film in the *Ace Ventura *franchise arrived more than 15 years after the original. *Ace Ventura Jr.: Pet Detective *centers on Ace's son, Ace Ventura Jr. (Josh Flitter), as he tries to live up to his father's formidable legacy.

What starts as an investigation into missing pets at his school intensifies when Ace Jr. must step up to clear his mom's (Ann Cusack) name after she's wrongly accused of stealing a baby panda from the Miami Zoo.

Unlike the earlier films, this standalone sequel doesn't involve Carrey. Critics were unimpressed; EW dismissed it as one of "the most random sequels."
