A Florida city commonly known as a hub for retirees is now the home to young families. Downtown Fort Lauderdale became a hot spot for people to retire and enjoy a slow beach life in the 1990s, but now parents and children have taken over. According to the Downtown Development Authority's annual report, there has been an 83 percent increase in families with kids since 2018. In the past five years, there has been a 47 percent increase in families with children under five years old migrating to the sunny area.
