Malcolm (Frankie Muniz) is back and he's all grown up in the first trailer for "Malcolm in the Middle: Life's Still Unfair," a revival of the beloved Fox sitcom that ran from 2000 to 2006.
The new iteration follows an adult Malcolm and his daughter (Keeley Karsten) as they reunite with his highly dysfunctional family for his parents' 40th wedding anniversary party. Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek return as dad Hal and mom Lois, while Christopher Masterson is also back as Malcolm's rebellious older brother, Francis.
In the 40-second teaser, Malcolm insists that life has been "fantastic," in large part because he stayed "away from my family." He proceeds to hide out in a bathroom stall as various party shenanigans ensue.
Erik Per Sullivan, who played younger brother Dewey, is the lone original member of the main cast to not return for the four-part Hulu revival. Instead, the character has been recast with Caleb Ellsworth-Clark.
Sullivan appeared in multiple films and TV shows as a child actor, including "Christmas with the Kranks," "Joe Dirt" and "The Cider House Rules." In an episode of Dana Carvey and David Spade's"Fly on the Wall" podcastin June, Cranston explained Sullivan's absence from the new "Malcolm" episodes.

"I talked to Erik and I said, 'Hey, we got the show! It's going to come back,'" Cranston recalled. "He goes, 'Oh, that's fantastic!' And I go, 'Yeah, so we're looking forward to having you back.' He goes, 'Oh, no, no, I don't want to do it. But it's fantastic that you are.'
"He's actually going to Harvard," Cranston continued. "He's really, really smart, and I think he's getting his master's at Harvard right now. He said, 'Oh God, no. I haven't acted since I was 9 or something. So I'm not into it.'"

The reboot is premiering April 10, 2026, on Hulu.
