CBSwill no longer re-air a60 Minutessegment opposite the Super Bowl this Sunday that features Peter Attia, the physician and wellness influencer whose name appears frequently in the latest release of files on convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The development comes in the wake of Attia issuing alengthy statementon social media in which he apologized for corresponding with Epstein, but said he was "not involved in any criminal activity."
Attia's name appears over 1,700 times in the latest dump of roughly 3.5 million files on the convicted sex offender, who died in 2019. Epstein and Attia appear to have maintained a familiar association over their years-long correspondence, which apparently is replete withlurid remarks, discussions ofin-person visits, and offers ofwellness advice.
Still, Attia insisted that his "interactions with Epstein had nothing to do with his sexual abuse or exploitation of anyone," and further, that he was "never on his plane, never on his island, and never present at any sex parties."Attia apologized for "putting myself in a position where emails, some of them embarrassing, tasteless, and indefensible, are now public, and that is on me. I accept that reality and the humiliation that comes with it."

Attia's name is only one of dozens implicated in the recent tranche of Epstein files. Current U.S. President Donald Trump and former President Bill Clinton, businessmen like Bill Gates and Elon Musk, and cultural figures like Woody Allen and Mick Jagger appear, in some cases many times over, in the newly released photos, emails, and other documents. But Attia is the first to face immediate consequences.
The wellness guru began his career as a resident in general surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, but dropped out before earning his board certification. The 2018 launch of his podcast,The Drive, and the 2023 publication of his book,Outlive: The Science and Art of Longevity, boosted Attia to broad public recognition, ultimately leading to his being tapped as one of19 new contributorsto CBS News on Jan. 27.
Attia is as yet still part of a freshman class of new recruits including conservative historian Niall Ferguson and controversial podcaster Andrew Huberman under the controversial leadership of new chief Bari Weiss.

Attia's segment for the network's long-running (and nowembattled) news program60 Minutesaired in October, months before the job offer. In the segment, which isstill liveon CBS' YouTube channel, Attia broke down his work on creating "an escape velocity" to "minimize or essentially erase" signs of aging to correspondent Norah O'Donnell.
CBS has not announced what will replace the planned re-run on Super Bowl Sunday.
