MILWAUKEE (AP) — Milwaukee Bucks guard Ryan Rollins vowed that the contract he signed before the season wouldn't cause him to lower the tenacity that enabled him to earn that payday.

That three-year, $12 million deal is looking like more of a bargain for the Bucks with each passing day.

Rollins moved into Milwaukee's starting lineup after Kevin Porter Jr. sprained his left ankle in the first quarter of the Bucks' season opener. He has been capitalizing on the opportunity ever since.

"It's just the start for me, man, that's how I look at it," Rollins said after scoring a career-high 32 points to help the Bucks beat the Golden State Warriors 120-110 without Giannis Antetokounmpo on Thursday. "Just a good platform to me get situated, and then I just go from there. Keep doing what I'm doing that got me here. Just keep growing."

Rollins scored his previous career high of 25 points Tuesday in a 121-111 victory over the New York Knicks. He followed that up by shooting 13 of 21 overall and 5 of 7 from 3-point range while also dishing out eight assists with only one turnover.

The Bucks needed that kind of effort without Antetokounmpo, who was ruled out due to a sore left knee. His breakthrough night helped Milwaukee improve to 4-1, a big reversal for a team that lost eight of its first 10 games last season.

"That's a heck of a performance tonight," teammate Cole Anthony said. "It wasn't just on the offensive side, too. He turned us up defensively. He set the tone off the grim and guarded Steph (Curry) the whole game. That's a heck of a performance."

It was particularly special for Rollins because he began his NBA career with the Warriors, who sent him to the Washington Wizards in the summer of 2023 as part of the trade that brought Chris Paul to Golden State.

Rollins played just 12 games for Golden State as a rookie in 2022-23 but said Curry was a great mentor to him. The two-time MVP and four-time NBA champion signed a Warriors jersey for him after the game.

"Him being Steph Curry and him being just so down to earth and humble and just how he talked to me when I was just coming in, for who he was at that time and his stature, it was very humbling," Rollins said. "That's a great thing I witnessed my first year. It was great I got his jersey. I'm going to hang it up on my wall somewhere, for sure."

Curry said he's impressed with how far Rollins has come since that rookie year. Five games into the season, Rollins is averaging 18.6 points and 5.0 assists. He's coming off a 2024-25 season in which he averaged 6.2 points and 1.9 assists – both career highs.

"Watching him on film before tonight, you can see he's being very calculated on how to use his speed and create space and get downhill," Curry said. "He's shooting his shot when he's open. It seems like the game has slowed down enough where he's making proper reads. You obviously saw it tonight. He played fearless out there."

Rollins also tangled with Curry midway through the fourth quarter, leading to an incident that could have caused the 23-year-old to lose his cool.

Rollins gave Curry a big bump in the open floor but wasn't called for a foul as Golden State was bringing the ball upcourt with 5 ½ minutes left. Rollins then absorbed a couple of hard fouls from Draymond Green and Jonathan Kuminga the next time Milwaukee had the ball.

"I didn't expect nothing different," Rollins said. "I kind of liked it. It just turns me up a little bit more."

Rather than getting caught up in that, Rollins maintained his poise and made the biggest shot of the game. After Curry hit a 3-pointer to cut Milwaukee's lead to 106-104 with 4:03 remaining, Rollins sank a 3-point basket of his own 10 seconds later to start a game-clinching 11-2 spurt.

"The biggest thing of the night is literally everybody on the court wasn't afraid or hesitant about taking the shot," Rollins said.

Rollins' teammates already were well aware of his boldness. They also knew about his diligence.

"He puts the work in," Bucks forward Bobby Portis said. "He stays late after practice and after shootarounds. It's the same routine every day."

Now he has the chance to show just what he can do. Rollins intends to continue making the most of it.

"He's a tough kid, man," Bucks coach Doc Rivers said. "We've got a team full of tough guys. Resilient maybe is a better word. They just keep coming."

Cameron Crowe is looking back on the night he prank dialed Hollywood legends Cary Grant and Lucille Ball.

In his new memoir *The Uncool*, which hits bookshelves today, the rock journalist and director behind films such as *Almost Famous *and *Elizabethtown* recalls his experience calling up Grant and Ball as a teenager after plucking their numbers from his friend and fellow journalist's address book.

At the time, his pal Maureen was dating Grant and — after Crowe promised not to get her in any trouble — gave him the *His Girl Friday* actor's private phone number.

"I dialed. After three rings, Cary Grant picked up the phone. 'Hello,' said Cary Grant, in the way only Cary Grant says hello," Crowe wrote. "I took on the persona of a drunken drug dealer/street character. 'What's going on, man?'"

Grant, however, didn't blink an eye in response to the prank call, thoughtfully responding even when Crowe attempted to catch the actor off guard with increasingly outlandish tactics.

"'Whatchu doing, man? You need anything, need anything at all?' Now I pretended I was talking to somebody else in the room. 'Stop it! Put that gun down!'" Crowe remembered. "'Well, that would be a shame,' said Cary Grant. 'If that gun went off.'"

When Crowe explained that the imaginary gunman was his pal Tommy, he noted that Grant simply commented, "Well that can't be good... What else can I do for you?'"

And Crowe was suddenly very aware that he'd lost their war of wits. "In less than a minute, Cary Grant had disabled my prank with delicious good humor," he wrote. "He was ready for more, but I panicked. 'Take care, man,' I sputtered. 'I'm gonna go get high with Tommy.'"**

Last living star of 'I Love Lucy' recalls Lucille Ball as 'very demanding'

Lucille Ball as Lucy Ricardo in the I LOVE LUCY episode, "Lucy Becomes a Sculptress." Season 2, episode 15. Original air date, January 12, 1953.

He quickly hung up the call as Maureen and photographer Neal Preston laughed, admitting, "Cary Grant had vanquished me without even breaking a sweat."

But Grant wasn't Crowe's only prank victim that evening. He went on to dial Ball next, pretending to be a member of the hospitality staff at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

"Hel-lo,' answered Lucille Ball in a husky whiskey voice. I knew instantly it was her," he recalled. "'Yes,' I said, thinking quickly. 'This is Mr. Fontaine from the Beverly Hills Hotel.' I winked to Neal and Maureen. I knew this character was good. 'We seem to have found a purse of some kind, and it apparently belongs to you.'

The late *I Love Lucy *actress may have been a comedic legend, but she certainly wasn't laughing at Crowe's gag. "'Don't call me again, you A--HOLE,'" Crowe recalled Ball shouting at him. "The sixty-two-year-old genius of television comedy then jackhammered the phone down with incredible force."

He added, "'I loved Lucy,' I said, 'but she did *not* love me.'"

Now, Crowe looks back at his two oddball interactions with the stars fondly.

"I was always impressed that even on the other end of a prank call, Cary Grant knew the room and knew how to join the party," he wrote. "As for Lucille Ball, all I can tell you is that Martin Scorsese missed a real opportunity when she died."

He continued, "Let it be known. I've never heard anybody both weaponize and savor the word 'a--hole' with such authentic force since my very brief chat with Lucy."

Trolling has become an acceptable form of flattery in sports during the social media age, and now it has crept into the religious world.

But apparently that's what happens when the pope is from one of the most storied sports cities in America. On Tuesday, Pope Leo was visited at the Vatican by Mar Awa III, who presented Leo with a custom Cubs Jersey.

— Christopher Hale (@chrisjollyhale) October 27, 2025

Awa, also a Chicago native, is the head of the Assyrian Church of the East and "mistakenly" gave Leo the Cubs jersey as a gift during his visit to Vatican City. It's more likely that Awa caught wind of Leo's public interaction a couple of weeks ago, when some yelled out, "Go Cubs!", to which the pope responded, "Han perdido! They lost!" Awa's master trolling is even more effective, given how big a White Sox fan Pope Leo is.

The Cubs had a good 2025 season, winning 92 games and finishing second in the NL Central. However, at the time of this Pope Leo interaction with this fan, the Cubs had recently been eliminated in five games by the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLDS.

Formerly known as Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, Pope Leo XIV grew up a baseball fan on the south side of Chicago, rooting for his White Sox. However, Leo's father was a St. Louis Cardinals fan and his mother a Cubs fan, residing on the north side of the city.

In 2005, Leo was in attendance to watch his White Sox win their first World Series since 1917.

Changes on the 2025-2026 awards trail to look out for include major shifts for several awards bodies.

The Academy will implement its new Casting category this year, atop a rule change that requires members to see all nominated films in a specific bracket before casting a ballot for that grouping.

The Golden Globes further announced a new Best Podcast category for the upcoming ceremony, with controversial figures like Ben Shapiro, Candace Owens, Megyn Kelly, Tucker Carlson, and Joe Rogan all landing on the 25-strong shortlist for eligibility earlier this year.

King Juan Carlos, the former monarch of Spain, revealed a "disagreement" with his daughter-in-law, Queen Letizia, in his upcoming memoir

Juan Carlos' tell-all memoir, Reconciliation, is set to be published on Nov. 5 in France

King Juan Carlos, the former monarch of Spain, is telling all in his new memoir, Reconciliation.

Juan Carlos, 87, who has lived in self-imposed exile in the United Arab Emirates for the last five years after abdicating the throne in 2014, opens up his reign and his relationships in the forthcoming book, set to be published in France on Nov. 5.

In an excerpt shared by Spanish publication El Confidencial on Wednesday, Oct. 29, the former King has some harsh words for his daughter-in-law, the current Queen Letizia. Translated into English, Juan Carlos admits there is "personal disagreement" between him and the wife of his son and successor, King Felipe.

"She did not help to strengthen our family ties," he adds of Queen Letizia.

The statement marks the first time the former King has confirmed long-standing rumors of a rift within the Spanish royal family.

King Felipe and Queen Letizia married on May 22, 2004. They share two daughters, Princess Leonor, 19, and Princess Sofia, 18.

While the Queen was something of a controversial choice for the bride of a future king, as she had been married before and grew up working class, the royal rift likely stems from a more complicated history with the family.

Juan Carlos acceded to the Spanish throne in 1975 as the chosen successor of dictator Francisco Franco. While he was expected to continue Franco's regime, he almost immediately began working to install democracy in the country.

While initially very popular among his people, by 2013, multiple scandals — including romantic affairs, financial misappropriation and an infamous elephant hunting trip to Africa — led the King to abdicate and pass the throne to his youngest child and only son, King Felipe.

Then, in 2018, Juan Carlos' alleged spurned mistress, Corinna zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn, went to the police to accuse him of corrupt business deals with Saudi Arabia. While the case was later dropped, the former King lost his public stipend from the State's General Budget as punishment from the crown, and King Felipe agreed to give up all inheritance from his father.

He was also accused of harassment by zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn, though he later won an appeal in that case.

In 2020, Juan Carlos decided to move to the UAE so as not to let public attention on him, or his ongoing financial scandals, overshadow his son's reign. His wife, Queen Sofía, remained in Spain and often attends royal events with King Felipe and his family.

"To help my son, I looked for a place where journalists from my country couldn't easily find me," Juan Carlos told French newspaper Le Figaro in an interview published this week.

Juan Carlos' forthcoming book also addresses his connection to another royal family and the rumors that he seduced Princess Diana.

Rumors about the two started swirling in the late 1980s when Diana and then-Prince Charles, along with their sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, vacationed at the Marivent Palace, the Spanish royal family's summer home in Palma de Mallorca, for three consecutive summers.

Despite his reputation as a womanizer, the former King denies the affair in his memoir. In fact, he unfavorably describes Diana as "cold, taciturn, distant, except in the presence of the paparazzi."
