The funeral service for formerVice President Dick Cheneyis set to take place in the nation's capital on Thursday, Nov. 20.
The former American businessman and politician died Nov. 3 of complications of pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease, his family said. Born in Lincoln, Nebraska, in 1941, Cheney grew up in Wyoming, where he served as a lawmaker and later retired.
Cheney served as vice president under George W. Bush from 2001 to 2009 and is consideredone of the most powerful and controversial men to hold the role, largely due to his role in leading the push toinvade Iraq in 2003andhis views on presidential power.
