Four people were killed and 10 were wounded in a mass shooting inStockton, California, Saturday evening, according to officials.
Deputies responded shortly before 6 p.m. to a report of a shooting near the 1900 block of Lucile Avenue.
The San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office said at a news conference that children and adults were shot.
Early indications "suggest this may have been a targeted incident," a spokesperson for the sheriff's office said.

The suspect remains at-large, according to thesheriff's office.

"We are doing everything possible to bring the individual that's responsible for this to justice," San Joaquin County District Attorney Ron Freitas said.
Detectives continue to work on determining a possible motive.
The shooting happened during a family gathering inside a banquet hall.
Multiple people were taken to hospitals, although their conditions are unclear.
The incident remainsunder investigation, with the FBI also probing the shooting.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom has been briefed on the situation, and the governor's Office of Emergency Services is coordinating with local law enforcement.

"Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and everyone impacted by this senseless violence," the sheriff's office said.
Stockton Vice Mayor Jason Lee said: "I am devastated and angry to learn about the mass shooting at a child's birthday party. An ice cream shop should never be a place where families fear for their lives."
