Someone reading is about to win a bar bet.

Kate Hudson, who can currently be seen in theaters oppositeHugh Jackmanin the musical-comedy-dramaSong Sung Blue, recently joinedEntertainment Weekly's Gerrad Hall for an upcoming episode ofThe Awardist podcast. While discussing the newNeil Diamond-related film, the conversation flowed back to a Christmas classic:Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.

"I've [got] those two cent residuals coming my way," Hudson joked about theChris Columbus-directed perennial and its seasonal interest. Her jokey comment confirmed that, yes, she is connected to the film, which starredMacaulay Culkin,Catherine O'Hara,Joe Pesci,Daniel Stern,Tim Curry, and, indeed,Donald J. Trump. However, the connection is very tenuous.

"I'm not in it," she said about the scene in which a holiday chorus of children sing. "I'm on the soundtrack."

Hudson clarified, "I'm just one of the little kids that went to the recording studio and sang."

When asked if any of the other kids at that session later went on to achieve fame and fortune, she replied, "I don't know. I was so little. I was like... seven? Seven or eight? Ten?"

We cracked out the abacus and have determined that Ms. Hudson, who was born on April 19, 1979, was actually 12 or perhaps even 13, as the film's production began in December 1991 and lasted until May 1992.

Either way, Hudson, who is, of course,Goldie Hawn's daughter, did not make her official Hollywood debut until 1996, when she appeared in an episode ofParty of Five. Her big break came in 2000, when she costarred in Cameron Crowe'sAlmost Famous, for which she won a Golden Globe and received an Oscar nomination.

But if her first gig involved singing, it's all been a warm-up forSong Sung Blue. The new film, directed by Craig Brewer (Black Snake Moan,Dolemite Is My Name), is based on the true story of Mike and Claire Sardina, a Wisconsin couple who formed a Neil Diamond tribute band and experienced (in rapid succession) many of life's ups-and-downs.

In a recent interview withEntertainment Weekly, Brewer was blunt about his leading lady: "She's incredible."

Jackman has been similarly congratulatory about his costar. At the Gotham Awards in early December, hepredictedthat she would soon have a new, much-desired paperweight as a result her performance.

"Kate Hudson is not only one of the great stars of our business, she is a consummate actor," Jackman said, before adding, "I believe this time she is going to get an Oscar."

Time will tell!
