When we were children, my brother and I used to compete to be the favourite child. As adults, it became something of a running joke: which one of us did Mum love more? Of course it was an unanswerable question – love isn't something you can measure out in pounds and ounces, or quantify. At least it wasn't until a recent study carried out in Finland attempted to do just that – and concluded that parental love trumps romantic love.
