Instagram users are reporting a direct messaging outage, leaving them unable to communicate in the app. Downdetector, a site that monitors online outages, shows issues began around 7am ET, plaguing Americans in New York City, Los Angeles, Dallas and other major cities. The outage has also been reported in the UK, Australia and parts of Europe and Asia. Users have cited problems with Facebook Messenger. Meta's service status page shows 'some disruptions' with its 'Posting Tool.
