Police are investigating a suspicious package just five miles outside of the Capitol in Washington, DC. The Metropolitan Police Department confirmed to DailyMail.com that bomb squad is investigation the item on the 5000 block of Hayes St. NE. That portion of the road has been closed off while crews investigate the package. Police are putting up extra security around the U.S Capitol building ahead of Monday's certification of the 2024 Presidential Election in congress
