Spectrum News hit by shocking claims after Orlando reporter was murdered while on job
The family of Spectrum New reporter who was shot dead by an accused murderer while covering the suspect's alleged crime is suing the media outlet, claiming it put the reporter in harm's way. The family of Dylan Lyons announced the lawsuit stemming from his February 2023 death, saying Spectrum's parent company, Charter Communications, failed to provide proper training for active shooter situations. Lyons, 24, was gunned down while reporting for Spectrum News 13 near Orlando, Florida on February 22, 2023, after a gunman was reported in the area.
