Republican lawmakers in Idaho are considering going back to the firing squad after the execution of a convicted serial killer via lethal injection completely failed last year. State Representative Bruce Skaug introduced a bill Tuesday that would make Idaho the only US state that makes a firing squad its primary mode of carrying out the death penalty, the Idaho Statesman reported. Skaug previously sponsored a bill that became law in 2023 that allowed the firing squad a backup method, but only when lethal injection isn't possible due to a lack of execution drugs.
