The White House is shutting down a report that said President Donald Trump is considering commuting the prison sentence of Sean "Diddy" Combs.

TMZ reported on Monday that the president was "vacillating" on a commutation for the disgraced music mogul who, earlier this month, was sentenced to 50 months in prison on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. The outlet cited a "high-ranking White House official."

Responding to the report in a statement shared with* *, a White House official said, "There is zero truth to the TMZ report, which we would've gladly explained had they reached out before running their fake news. The President, not anonymous sources, is the final decider on pardons and commutations."

TMZ responded by updating its original story with the statement, "The White House Communications Office is saying our story is not true. We stand by our story. Our story is accurate."

More than 70 lawsuits have been filed against the Bad Boy Records mogul since November 2023, alleging sexual assault and sex trafficking. His highly publicized federal trial, based on charges that also include racketeering conspiracy and transportation to engage in prostitution, began in New York on May 12. Combs pleaded not guilty and has denied all of the allegations against him.

On Oct. 3, a federal judge sentenced Combs to 50 months (just over four years) in prison, fined him $500,000, and ordered five years of supervised release once he leaves prison.

In August, Trump was asked about potentially pardoning Combs during an interview with Newsmax.

"You know, I was very friendly with him. I got along with him great and seemed like a nice guy. I didn't know him well," the president responded. "But when I ran for office, he was very hostile."

When asked if he was suggesting that he would not pardon Combs, Trump said, "I would say so."

He added, "We don't like to have things cloud our judgment, right? But when you knew someone, and you were fine, and then you run for office, and he made some terrible statements... So I don't know, it's more difficult. It makes it more — I'm being honest, it makes it more difficult to do."

Trump had previously addressed the issue in May. "Nobody's asked," he said of pardoning Combs. "But I know people are thinking about. I know some people are close to asking."

At the time, Trump did not rule out a pardon, stating that he would "certainly look at the facts" of Combs' case. He claimed that "if I think somebody was mistreated, whether they like me or don't like me, it wouldn't have any impact on [my decision]."

Trump has pardoned a number of celebrities since taking office, including rappers Kodak Black and Lil Wayne, both of whom were convicted on federal weapon charges. The president also recently pardoned incarcerated reality TV stars Todd and Julie Chrisley, who were convicted of bank fraud and tax evasion in 2022 after swindling $36 million out of banks in the Atlanta area. Trump claimed the couple was "prosecuted because they were celebrities."**
