When cruising around Los Angeles, it's impossible to miss the iconic towering palm trees lining the streets. They have become an essential part of the city's ambiance - but they also may threaten LA's existence. After multiple fires broke out across Southern California earlier this month, dramatic photos of flaming palm trees quickly emerged. The trees are highly flammable, with their dead fronds turning into embers when sparked that can carry for miles by the wind.
