UAB said Saturday that two players were injuredin an alleged stabbingahead of the team's game against South Florida.

The players, who were not named by the school, were allegedly stabbed at the football facility by a teammate.According to Jefferson County Jail records, Daniel Mincey was booked into jail at 12:40 p.m. following an arrest by UAB campus police. Mincey is held on charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault.

Mincey is a redshirt freshman offensive lineman who transferred from Kentucky after the 2024 season. The game was held as scheduled after UAB said players chose to play following the incident. UAB lost 48-18.

"We're grateful to report that two players injured in an incident this morning at the Football Operations Building are in stable condition," the school said. "Our thoughts are with them and their families as they recover. The suspect — another player — remains in custody and an investigation is taking place. The team elected to play today's game."

"UAB's top priority remains the safety and well-being of all of our students. Given patient privacy and the ongoing investigation, we have no further comment at this time."

Harden erupts for 55, Clippers rout Hornets 131-116 in Paul's likely last game in North Carolina

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — James Harden made 10 3-pointers and scored a season-high 55 points, and the Los Angeles Clippers beat the Charlotte Hornets 131-116 on Saturday hours after 12-time All-Star point guard Chris Paulreleased a videoon social media hinting atretirementafter the season ends.

Ivica Zubac added 18 points, nine rebounds and six assists for the Clippers, who snapped a three-game losing streak.

Rookie Kon Knueppel had 26 points to lead the Hornets, who have lost five straight. Brandon Miller returned from a 13-game absence because of a shoulder injury and finished with 21 points.

Harden erupted for 27 points in the opening quarter on five 3s, helping the Clippers build a 14-point first-half lead and erase a fast start by the Hornets, who made seven of their first eight shots.

Charlotte pulled within 74-72 in the third quarter, but the momentum changed when LaMelo Ball exited the game with his fourth foul.

With Hornets center Ryan Kalkbrenner leaving the game early with an ankle injury, the Clippers leaned on Zubac's size advantage over Moussa Diabate in the third quarter, resulting in back-to-back dunks. Then came Harden's signature moment, as he drilled his eighth 3 on a step-back jumper over two defenders, drawing a foul on Diabate for a 4-point play.

Harden's 55-point outing was the 11th-highest scoring game of his career. His career high is 61 points.

Paul, who grew in Winston-Salem and played at Wake Forest, finished what is expected to be his final game in his home state with eight assists. Paul showed his mastery of finding the open man in the second half by finding Brook Lopez for three open 3s.

Hornets lose two more

The Hornets, who have been besieged by early season injuries, lost two more players against the Clippers. Kalkbrenner (left ankle soreness) and veteran guard Pat Connaughton (right calf soreness) left the game in the first half and did not return.

Both teams are on the road Sunday night, with the Clippers visiting Cleveland and the Hornets at Atlanta.

Key points

  • Shirley Henderson was 36 when she portrayed 14-year-old ghost Moaning Myrtle in 2002's Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

  • The actress says a casting director for the film told her, "Don't mention your age."

  • Henderson remembered going to the audition dressed as a schoolgirl and thinking, "This is ridiculous."

Moaning Myrtle is the epitome of uncomfortable hormonal adolescence — but she wasn't played by a teenager.

Shirley Hendersonrecently reflected on playing the aggressive young ghost in 2002'sHarry Potter and the Chamber of Secretsas a 36-year-old.

"The casting director said, 'Go for it — and don't mention your age,'" Henderson recalled in a recent interview withThe Independent. She ultimately did "a wee bit of moaning" during the audition, and impressed the filmmakers enough to land the role of the ill-fated Ravenclaw spirit.

Henderson told the outlet that her life didn't change much after the release of the second film in the wizarding franchise. "I don't think anybody recognized me at all," she said.

The actress — who had already appeared in notable films likeTrainspotting,Topsy-Turvy, andBridget Jones' Diaryby the timeChamber of Secretscame along — also detailed her Hogwarts experience in a recent interview with theRadio Times.

"When I was first asked for an audition, I didn't know who Harry Potter was," she recalled. "But my sister, who was staying with me, had read the books. Still, I wasn't convinced I could play a 14-year-old girl because I was in my 30s at the time."

Henderson explained that she discussed the opportunity with a casting director for the film, who said, "I haven't told them your age." So in order to look the part, she presented herself as a much younger performer while reading for the role.

"I went to the audition dressed as a schoolgirl — white shirt, black skirt, ponytail — thinking, 'This is ridiculous,'" she remembered. "I did my wee bit for them and they thanked me. Months went by and I thought that was it, but then they phoned my agent, asked to see me again, and offered me the part."

Henderson thinks the age gap between herself and her character can partly be justified by Myrtle's ghostly nature — the character canonically died in 1943 and has been haunting the second-floor bathroom for half a century by the time Harry enrolls.

"Myrtle is an old person in a young person's body and because she's ghosty, there's a kind of mistiness," the actress said. "You're not looking closely at my face, so we could get away with it."

Henderson went on to act in films like Sofia Coppola'sMarie Antoinette, Bong Joon-ho'sOkja, Danny Boyle's sequelT2 Trainspotting, and Joe Wright'sAnna Karenina. She also won a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her 2018 turn inThe Girl from the North Country, and received a Scotland BAFTA for Best Actress for her work inSouthcliffe.

The actress also returned to play Myrtle in 2005'sHarry Potter and the Goblet of Fireand later made a special appearance on the TV competition seriesHarry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses.

Henderson can next be seen in the British TV seriesSummerwater. She also recently lent her voice to Pixar'sElioand acted in Brian Cox's feature directorial debut,Glenrothan, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.
