The downtown purchasing space has confronted a slew of closures with the mall at present at a 25% occupancy price.

A mom and daughter, on a buying journey to the mall, shared their damaging thoughts on the state of affairs, in response to the MailOnline.

Tara Button explained how the mall had drastically modified since her final visit in 2019.

"5 years in the past, this place was thriving," she stated.

"It's a bit of a shock, it's very unhappy."

The pair also complained concerning the area surrounding the mall which they stated they needed to walk by way of.

"We have been scared which bothers me," Button added.

The mall has been plagued with retailer closures as 5 retailers left the premises in January alone, The U.S. Sun previously reported.

These shops embrace J. Crew, Adidas, Fortunate Model, Aldo, and Madewell.

This mall's 25% occupancy price is staggeringly low compared to the 93% common throughout the US.

The San Francisco Centre also confronted a serious shake-up final summer time when its former operators, Westfield and Brookfield Properties, handed again the retail area to its lender.

"For greater than 20 years, Westfield has proudly and efficiently operated San Francisco Centre, investing considerably over that time within the vitality of the property," the corporate stated at the time.

Westfield also described "challenging operating circumstances in downtown San Francisco" resulting in a decline in gross sales and footfall.&

Wade Rose, the president of the enterprise advocacy group Advance SF, informed ABC News that several dynamics have been responsible for the challenges the mall has confronted.

Rose added that crime made up "part of the narrative. It isn't the complete narrative."
